Brainspotting

Brainspotting Therapy | Deep, Somatic Healing for Trauma, Anxiety, and Emotional Blocks

Offered by Katy De Angelis, LCSW | Certified Brainspotting Clinician

When talk therapy alone doesn’t feel like enough, Brainspotting offers a powerful way to access the deeper parts of your brain and body that store trauma, stress, and emotional pain.

At Katy De Angelis Counseling, I offer Brainspotting therapy as a part of my trauma-informed, somatic approach to healing. This brain-body-based technique helps you process unresolved trauma, reduce anxiety, and release what’s keeping you stuck .

How Brainspotting Helps

Brainspotting can be especially effective for:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Depression and emotional numbness

  • Chronic stress and burnout

  • Medical or birth trauma

  • Somatic symptoms (e.g., headaches, muscle tension, fatigue)

  • Creative or performance blocks

  • Attachment wounds and early relational trauma

  • Emotional overwhelm or “stuckness” in traditional talk therapy

Many clients describe Brainspotting sessions as deeply calming, clarifying, and transformative — even when they’ve tried other forms of therapy without success.

What Is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a neurobiological therapy that helps identify and release sources of emotional and physical distress by accessing deep areas of the brain through eye positioning. By holding a specific "brainspot" in your field of vision, your brain and body begin to process unhealed trauma and stress — often beyond what words can reach.

This gentle, client-led approach allows healing to unfold at your own pace, bypassing the analytical mind and working directly with the nervous system to promote integration and relief.

What to Expect in a Brainspotting Session

Brainspotting sessions may feel different from traditional therapy. After we establish safety and connection, I’ll guide you in identifying a “brainspot” — a specific eye position that connects to the emotional or somatic experience you want to work on.

From there, we allow your brain and body to do the work. You might experience emotions, memories, body sensations, or simply a deep sense of calm. There is no need to talk through every detail — your brain knows how to heal when given the right space.

Is Brainspotting Right for You?

Brainspotting may be a good fit if:

  • You’ve been in talk therapy and feel like you’ve “hit a wall”

  • You want to work through trauma

  • You experience physical symptoms of stress or trauma

  • You’re curious about somatic or body-based therapy

  • You’re looking for deeper emotional release or nervous system regulation

I welcome you to bring your whole self — your mind, your body, and your story — into the therapeutic space.
